Sleep foundation is the building blocks of healthy, lasting sleep habits. It’s my reimagined approach to sleep training — free of “cry it out” stigma, and instead rooted in gentle methods, evidence-based strategies, and nurturing routines. By teaching babies to self-soothe and connect sleep cycles, we set them up for peaceful nights and happy days without stress or guilt.
-
Newborns (0–3 months) aren’t ready for sleep training — their bodies still need round-the-clock feeds, and they haven’t yet developed melatonin, the hormone that helps regulate sleep. During this stage, families often choose night nursing, which provides overnight care and introduces early practices that make the transition easier later.
From around 3 months (when your baby is developmentally ready and has reached a healthy weight), we can begin sleep foundations: gently guiding them toward new sleep associations, helping them learn self-regulation, and building the skills to fall back asleep without needing you every time they stir.
-
Yes — timing matters. Most babies are ready to begin Sleep Foundations between 3–4 months of age, once they’ve started producing melatonin and reached a healthy weight of around 12–14 pounds (check with your pediatrician for your baby’s unique growth). Before this stage, families often choose night nursing, which provides overnight relief and teaches gentle practices that make sleep training smoother later.
By starting Sleep Foundations at the right time, we help your baby develop self-soothing skills, connect sleep cycles, and sleep for longer stretches — setting your family up for nights full of rest instead of stress.
-
Many parents hear “sleep training” and immediately think of “cry it out.” Sleep foundations are different. My approach is responsive, compassionate, and tailored to your baby. It’s not about letting them cry endlessly; it’s about giving them the tools to self-soothe while you stay present and supported. Think of it as teaching a lifelong skill with empathy and structure — not rigid, not harsh, and always family-centered.
-
Beyond better sleep, parents often share that sleep foundations bring them confidence, consistency, and peace of mind. Babies thrive on rhythm, and when they rest well, parents rest well. With the right foundation, your baby learns skills that carry through childhood — meaning less stress, fewer regressions, and a more joyful family dynamic overall.
-
Every baby is unique. Sleep Foundations isn’t about quick fixes — it’s about teaching skills and creating an environment where sleep comes naturally. Most families see meaningful progress within a few nights, but the real value is in the long-term: a child who can self-soothe, connect sleep cycles, and rest well for years to come.

Yes! While many parents come to me for nighttime help, nap struggles often improve as part of the process. By aligning sleep rhythms and teaching self-soothing, your baby can settle more easily for both naps and nighttime sleep.
